for the November 2023 production of the comedy

'Kidnapped at Christmas' by Willis Hall

Directed by Jim Bond

The play revolves around Crosby and Gilbert breaking out of prison at Christmas and the various locations and events they find themselves in.

Auditions will be held in the Church Hall, Bear Street, Nayland, open to all on:-

Wednesday 19 July 2023 at 7:30pm

Sunday 23 July 2023 at 5pm

The roles on offer are:

Convicts Gilbert and Crosby - these are major roles with Crosby seeming a bit “harder” than Gilbert. Lots of lines and in every scene. Energetic.

Warders Mullins and MacBain - smaller roles with lots of “chases” round the audience. One of these two could be female.

Detective Constable Grummett - lovely role with lots of interaction with the audience. Medium size part.

Clara Grummett - DC Grummets wife. Bit hysterical part (well her son is kidnapped) but not too large and great fun.

Alexander Grummett (their son). About 11/ 12 years old. Enormous fun and not too large a role. Evadne Docherty - small role in Act 2 only but good fun.

Headmaster Allardyce - old fashioned headmaster role and he is also the Frankenstein monster (don’t tell anyone ). Medium role in Act 2 only but fun. Interacts with audience .

Q - When are the performances?

A - November 23, 24, 25.

Q - Can I audition on a different date?

A - Possibly. Contact Jim directly. (See below.)

Q - When do you rehearse?

A - We generally have rehearsals twice a week: on Wednesdays (7:30 - 9:30) and Sundays (5 - 7). In the week preceding performances, there are some additional rehearsals.

Q - Where do the rehearsals take place?

A - They are usually held in Nayland Church Hall. For the last few weeks, we are generally in Nayland Village Hall.

Q - When do rehearsals start?

A - In September.

Q - Do I need to prepare anything for the auditions?

A - No - just come along. We'll have a copy of the script for you to look at.
